India has added its 58th tiger reserve with the designation of the Madhav Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh, marking the state’s ninth such conservation area. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed this achievement on Saturday, highlighting India’s commitment to wildlife preservation and environmental sustainability.
Sharing the announcement made by Union Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change Bhupender Yadav, PM Modi praised the country’s cultural dedication to protecting its diverse wildlife. “Amazing news for wildlife lovers! India is blessed with wildlife diversity and a culture that celebrates wildlife. We will always be at the forefront of protecting animals and contributing to a sustainable planet,” he posted on X.
Yadav described the new reserve as the “58th roar and counting!” and applauded the dedication of forest officials working tirelessly for conservation. He congratulated wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists, calling the development a testament to India’s ongoing efforts in protecting endangered species.
Earlier this month, on World Wildlife Day, PM Modi visited Gujarat’s Gir National Park, where he introduced the concept of Bruhad Gir — an expanded conservation area of 30,000 sq. km to protect the habitat of Asiatic lions. This initiative also focuses on ensuring the well-being of local communities living alongside the wildlife.
